Rima Bhatia is the Group Economic Advisor at Gulf International Bank (GIB). Her comprehensive portfolio includes advising on the strategic implications of economic themes and events; and providing insights on economic policy direction, financial markets performance, banking sector developments, and sustainability/ ESG issues. As a thought leader with expertise and extensive knowledge of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) economies and the oil market, she also produces a wide range of research and opinion pieces. Following her previous capacity as the Group Chief Economist and Head of Strategy at GIB, Rima currently supports the bank’s strategic thinking and planning as a consultant on strategy committees, and through producing advisory research on insights, market intelligence and tactical views. Rima’s mandate spans advising GIB’s Board of Directors, executive management and clients; speaking at regional and global forums; and hosting webinars. She also attends the bank’s senior level committees as a consultant, including the Management Committee, Sustainability Committee, Investment Committee, Assets & Liabilities Committee, and Risk Committee. Rima holds a Master’s Degree in Finance & Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Bahrain, and attended an Economic Executive Program at Harvard University.
