Amir Golbarg has been appointed Chief Operating Officer – Middle East & Africa for Minor Hotels, effective 1 January 2026. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s growing portfolio across the region, leading operations, development, and brand performance for all Minor Hotels brands. His promotion follows a highly successful period as Senior Vice President, during which the group achieved record growth, expanded into key markets, and earned significant industry recognition. Under Amir’s leadership, Minor Hotels strengthened its presence across the Middle East through several strategic signings in 2025. These included Dukes The Palm Dubai Hotel, increasing the group’s footprint on Palm Jumeirah, NH Collection Ras Al Khaimah Al Marjan Island Hotel & Apartments, scheduled to open in 2028, Avani+ Fujairah Resort, marking the brand’s debut in Fujairah, and Oaks Residences Riyadh in Saudi Arabia’s capital. The company also received major accolades during the year. Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel was named Favourite Business Hotel in the Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Readers’ Choice Awards, while Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort was voted the top resort in North Africa and the Middle East and ranked among the world’s top 100 hotels. Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara also earned a prestigious Michelin Key. Amir joined Minor Hotels in 2012 as Director of Operations & Hotel Openings in Bangkok and later held several international leadership positions. After serving as Hotel Manager at Souq Waqif Hotel Doha, he returned to Minor Hotels in 2019 as Vice President Operations – Middle East & Africa, where he drove operational excellence and strategic growth. His responsibilities expanded in 2021 to include Southern Africa, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
