Michaela Guzy is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, travel journalist, media executive, producer + on-air show host. She is the founder of the editorial content house, OTPYM Productions which she founded in '12 after departing her corporate job as the VP/Global Travel + Strategic Development for American Express Publishing. In her first series, “OH THE PEOPLE YOU MEET with Michaela Guzy”, she focuses on PEOPLE, PLACES + PURPOSES - where she switched the storytelling narrative on its head in order to empower her local hosts to share their own stories. Episodes have appeared on Qatar Airways, American Airlines, KTLA+, Thrive Global, Modern Luxury Media's M/LUX available to 135 mil US households + People’s Planet in Southern Africa. Season 4 began filming May '25. In response to COVID-19 she launched a 125 episodes of a visual podcast called InspirationStation - which have gained over 10 million+ views on OTPYM owned channels. In '20, Guzy documented the world reopening safely in a viral series, SLEEPING AROUND SAFELY. Today, this series is about a solo female traveler who has been "houseless, not homeless" since June '20 while living in luxury hotels, cruises + even safari tents all across the globe. The series has won multiple awards at film festivals + is also now distributed globally. Guzy is an advocate for sustainable living + regenerative travel. She speaks at industry travel events, conferences + film festivals around the world. She appears as a sustainable travel, human connection + wellbeing expert on morning shows including CBS New York, NBC, FintechTV at NYSE, NY PIX 11, Channel News Asia, ChekTV Vancouver + KLTA. Guzy served as an adjunct professor at NYU SPS from '17-'20, where she created + taught a course, "Travel Storytelling: Creating Video Content". Since '23, Michaela has mentored nextgen filmmakers across Africa. She is passionate about breaking the poverty cycle through education + works with the homeless in both NYC + LA.
